GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CBS4) – A Grand Junction woman who sued after she was fired for pumping breast milk at work has reached a settlement with her former employer.
The American Civil Liberties filed the lawsuit against Big League Haircuts on behalf of Ashley Provino in 2013.
According to the settlement, the salon has to make sweeping policy changes to allow nursing employees enough time and privacy to pump breast milk at work.
Big League Haircuts is also paying Provino an undisclosed amount of money as part of the settlement.
Federal and state laws allow nursing mothers a short break every four hours.
